Six Months!

On Saturday Elsworth and I celebrated our six month wedding anniversary with a lovely picnic in Austin Gardens, the park across from our wedding venue.  We ate Jersey Mike's subs and had delicious cupcakes for dessert.  I brought the cake toppers from our wedding along and put them on the cupcakes.  As you can see, my cupcake was heavy on the frosting!  Both were very tasty!

Six months ago we had a beautiful fall day and yesterday we had a beautiful spring day!

Slightly before the wedding I was given the first picture ever taken of me and Elsworth, on the first day we met.  The picture had been in my friend Mercy's possession and I was so excited to get it!  To give it some context, the first time I met Elsworth was at a party Mercy and I were hosting with the theme of "Your Best Birthday Ever" and before the party we had installed a ball pit in our apartment.  Here's the picture:

I'll speak for myself by saying this photo was taken several drinks into the evening and definitely is not my best photo.  But I will always love it because it documents the first time Elsworth and I met (also pictured is our friend, Sarah, who brought Elsworth to the party in the first place...thanks for that, Sarah)!

After taking possession of the picture Elsworth and I decided that we wanted to have it made into a painting.  There is an artist in DC, Dana Ellyn http://www.danaellyn.com/, who Elsworth has several paintings by.  He contacted her and commissioned her to paint the ball pit picture.  It just so happened to arrive on Friday, right in time for our six month anniversary celebration.  We LOVE it!

Fritz!

This is our first blog entry of 2013 which is pretty sad considering we're in the second month of the year.  I have plans to blog more frequently--we'll see if that happens!

A few weeks ago we went to Wisconsin to meet a new member of our extended family--an adorable red fox lab puppy named Fritz!  Elsworth's mom adopted Fritz and he is settling into his new home wonderfully!  Here are some photos of him!

We were hoping that Libby and Fritz would be fast friends.  However, given the playful instincts of a puppy and the fact that Fritz is already 3 times as big as Libby, our dream of Libby riding on the back of Fritz did not happen.  Instead, Libby stayed in this spot all weekend...

Libby did come down from her perch on the couch at one point when Karl was looking at our wedding photo album...the results are pretty adorable.  Libby was quite interested in looking at the picture of herself!

We are looking forward to going to Wisconsin again soon to see how much Fritz has grown since we saw him last!
